June 20th 1969 A Very Tragic Day
I too was with Company D on June 20th 1969. I was on the opposite side of LZ Ike, to the north, while PFC Goetzer was on the south side I believe. Life is so precious, but most do not know how little it takes to sweep it away from us. Although I did not personally know Joseph, I have been forever in his and my memories of that night. There was a PFC standing behind me when I was wounded who also died. There is no easy way to accept the fact that one minute your there and the next, well the next you are to be remembered more then you could ever have imagined. Hopefully all that knew you or knew of you can be better knowing that you were doing everything you could for yourself and your fellow soldiers. RIP PFC Joseph James Goetzer Jr.!!
