Thank You

Dear Ssgt Peter Gilmore,
Thank you for your service as an Infantryman with the 1st Cavalry. Merry Christmas. It has been too long, and it's about time for us all to acknowledge the sacrifices of those like you who answered our nation's call. Please watch over America, it stills needs your strength, courage and faithfulness. Rest in peace with the angels.

Never Forgotten

Peter, it is said that a man hasn’t died as long as he is remembered. Rest in peace knowing that you are remembered and honored. Thank you for your service. Prayers to your family and friends. Garryowen!

Many of the men who served in Charlie Company 1st Bn, 7th Cavalry, First Cavalry Division (Airmobile) in Vietnam during the period 1970 through 1971 have begun gathering together annually. One of the purposes of our reunions is to honor the 28 men who lost their lives during this period. These men made the ultimate sacrifice for their country, but most of all, they sacrificed for their brothers who fought beside them.

You are Never Forgotten.

Honor and Remember

You are honored and remembered on the Heartland Youth for Decency Vietnam Memorial. The Vietnam Memorial was built by a group of high school and college students from the La Mesa area called Heartland Youth for Decency back in 1970. The memorial park is dedicated to veterans who were living in Southern California's Heartland area (consisting of the communities of La Mesa, Spring Valley, Jamul, Lemon Grove, El Cajon, Santee, and Lakeside) when they accepted the call to military service, during which service they gave their lives in the Vietnam War.
