Served with Babey in the 4th Infantry 2nd of the eighth.

I left Nam in late August of 1969. While stationed at Fort Bragg I received a letter from Bob Hines about the ambush that took Babey and left Bob severely wounded with half a chest. He was still in the Hospital in Japan and waiting to finally go home.I remember the day I received that letter and how I cried most of the day. Leaving guys behind that you fought with and became close to was the hardest part. You still felt responsible for them. Babey was a good man and a real warrior. He was a track driver and as I remembered actually qualified for 2 or 3 Purple Hearts. Babey RIP. Sgt Jim Brown
