November 9, 1967 - for Wayne

This November 9th it will be 50 years since you died in Vietnam. But thiose of us who went to high school and grammar school with you will never forget you. Your death affected so many of us, more than you could ever know. It changed our lives, made us more compassionate. I hope somehow, somewhere, you know this now.

Sherilyn

Classmate

Jerry Wayne Gentry was one of my classmates in Cass High's graduating class of 1966. He was friendly and well-liked. Our lives were just beginning! Only God knew his life was almost over. He had a sweet smile, and a great sense of humor. He is remembered at our class reunions thru talk of football and boyhood pranks. He is greatly missed.

Remembering An American Hero

Dear PFC Jerry Wayne Gentry, sir

As an American, I would like to thank you for your service and for your sacrifice made on behalf of our wonderful country. The youth of today could gain much by learning of heroes such as yourself, men and women whose courage and heart can never be questioned.

May God allow you to read this, and may He allow me to someday shake your hand when I get to Heaven to personally thank you. May he also allow my father to find you and shake your hand now to say thank you; for America, and for those who love you.

With respect, and the best salute a civilian can muster for you, Sir

Curt Carter
