Never forgotten

Although I don’t know this young man I’ve followed his journey. My hope is that he will be found but if not he is remembered in all our hearts for giving the ultimate sacrifice so we can be safe. I wish I knew his family to let them know how much he’s loved and not forgotten. I’ve had his bracelet for years in hopes of his family getting him back and the bracelet. My prayers will continue for that to happen.

honoring you...

Thank you for your service to our country so long ago sir. While all deaths in Vietnam are tragic that you died on your 20th birthday is especially so. May you rest in eternal peace.

Remembering LCPL John J Foley III

I remember John J. Foley every Memorial Day, I talk about a Marine I never knew to my family. It has only been in recent years with the information available on the internet that I have learned more about him and his life.

In 1992, I was a 19 yr old LCPL in the Marine Corps, 0311 Rifleman. The ship I was aboard was in port at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. At the MWR, they were selling POW/MIA bracelets, I found one from my home state of NJ bearing the name of John J. Foley III.

I wore the bracelet for the rest of my time in service and afterwards. I have it still, it is a reminder to me of a young Marine who left home to serve his country and never came home. Semper Fi, John God Bless you and the loved ones you left behind.
