Bracelet

I wore Lt. Colonel Atterberry’s bracelet during and after the war. To this day I think of him and how grateful I am for his service and sacrifice. I also pray for his family when he comes to mind and remember their sacrifice as well.

I wore his bracelet.

I served in the Air Force for 23 years and wore Lt. Colonel Atterbery's bracelet for most of my career. When I retired I had his bracelet placed in my flag case on the left corner of my American flag. It hangs in my office so I can see it everyday.

A Bracelet Worn in Dallas

I also wore my POW Bracelet of Maj. EDWIN ATTERBERRY from 72 to 79, or longer. I cherished it. Finding out he was from Dallas made me feel even more humble. I was only 13 in 72 but cherished that Bracelet as most prized possession. I WISH WE WERE ABLE TO PURCHASE BRACELETS TODAY. IT WAS A SYMBOL OF USA UNITY.

Remembering my POW bracelet

I wore my POW bracelet with Edwin Atterberry in Junior High school in South Charleston, WV. I read about his death in Newsweek magazine, how he was killed attempting to escape. It broke my heart. And of course, when I went to DC I stopped by the wall to visit and say a prayer. As I will every time I go to DC. As a pharmacist, I have worked in military towns, which gives you a renewed appreciation for the sacrifices of the soldiers and their families. I will never forget.
