The Brother I Never Knew
Its been over 50 years now and very few days go by that I dont think of you. I am your half brother. I wish we had gotten to know one another earlier in life but you know how families are. Simply put, I am proud to know that your sacrifice will never go unnoticed as long as I live. Im sorry that I never made an attempt to reach out to you. God bless you and Im sure that we will meet again very soon.

honoring you...
Thank you for your service to our country so long ago sir. The remembrance from Joanne Robinson is especially poignant. As long as you are remembered you will always be with us….

OrI GI Al poem by Corpsman James Ferril Fletcher
“This I do
Being mad
Gather baubles and beads
All the while
Death is waiting at the door”
I was only 16 when I met Jim at a block party in OakLawn IL. We immediately struck a friendship that to this day is still an impact on my life. Jim would come down to see me on many weekends and dances and the like. My dad enjoyed many conversations with Jim. My parents both loved him. I remember well the last time I saw him before deployment he told me he would not return. He had much to do serving his fellow man. The world lost a wonderful selfless soul the day Jim died. Obviously if I still remember Jim with extreme fondness after all this time, I know he did not suffer and served his country his family his friends his fellow military veterans with pride. He made the absolute sacrifice to keep his fellow Americans safe from tyranny. If he were alive now he would say it was his honor to serve. God blessed me with his love and will always remember Jim with love. Miss you Jim….
