Thank you for your service to your country. Today is the 72nd anniversary of your birthday.
I find it comforting to know from the previous posts to this memorial that there are still many friends and family who continue to think about of you and the cherished memories they hold in their minds and hearts in their love for you.

A friend of the family
My father, Jim Mitchell, was a good friend of Stephen's father. I remember meeting Steve at Al's service station prior to his going into the Marines. I also remember how worried my father was when Steve was sent to Viet Nam and then how devastated my entire family was at the news of Steve's death. I still think of you and your family, and how we were saddened by your passing.

Thank You
Dear Pvt Stephen Facchini,
Thank you for your service as a Rifleman. It has been too long, and it's about time for us all to acknowledge the sacrifices of those like you who answered our nation's call. Please watch over America, it stills needs your strength, courage and faithfulness. Rest in peace with the angels.

Steve,
Going through training I always told you if we ended up in the same outfit it Nam, you would get me killed. As it turned out you took my spot on the listening post that day so I could have the corpsman look at an inconsequential wound. That should have been me on the LP. Thank you Marine. You were one of the best.
