Remembering An American Hero

Dear PFC John Robert Ackerman, sir

As an American, I would like to thank you for your service and for your sacrifice made on behalf of our wonderful country. The youth of today could gain much by learning of heroes such as yourself, men and women whose courage and heart can never be questioned.

May God allow you to read this, and may He allow me to someday shake your hand when I get to Heaven to personally thank you. May he also allow my father to find you and shake your hand now to say thank you; for America, and for those who love you.

With respect, and the best salute a civilian can muster for you, Sir

Curt Carter

Junior High in Kalamazoo

You and I had lockers next to each other in gym in 1962-63 in junior high school. Though I did not know you well, I was shocked when I heard the news. May you Rest in Peace, and bless you for your supreme sacrifice for our country. You are mentioned in Harold Moore's great book on Ia Drang. God Bless.

Thank you

John,
A Day before your nineteenth birthday, your life was taken in sacrifice for our country. Being young myself, the story of courageous young soldiers serving our country gives me a deepening respect for your sacrifice. You will never be forgotten. God Bless you for your courage and bravery.
Thank you,

Kaleigh Schlipf
