Not a day goes by that I don't think of you. Especially when I don't untie my shoes before taken them off. Rembember how dad use to yell at you?
I read a tribute to you from a classmate when you were living in Kalamazoo, MI
I am contemplating contacting this man. He said so many nice things about you that made me understand the how you felt when you came to live with us as are uncle when grandmother Joy died. How lonely and lost you must have felt. I am truly sorry I wasn't old enought to understand. I use to have dreams every night about you coming to my work place in crutches, wheelchair etc. I surpose you were trying to tell me you were ok. Remember I Love You and miss you
Thanks for letting me learn how to walk in your baby shoes even though you were only 13 days older than me. I'll never forget how you hitched hiked home for my graduation.

Remembering An American Hero
Dear PFC John Robert Ackerman, sir
As an American, I would like to thank you for your service and for your sacrifice made on behalf of our wonderful country. The youth of today could gain much by learning of heroes such as yourself, men and women whose courage and heart can never be questioned.
May God allow you to read this, and may He allow me to someday shake your hand when I get to Heaven to personally thank you. May he also allow my father to find you and shake your hand now to say thank you; for America, and for those who love you.
With respect, and the best salute a civilian can muster for you, Sir
