do not stand at my grave and weep

Do not stand at my grave and weep
I am not there; I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow,
I am the diamond glints on snow,
I am the sun on ripened grain,
I am the gentle autumn rain.
When you awaken in the morning's hush
I am the swift uplifting rush
Of quiet birds in circled flight.
I am the soft stars that shine at night.
Do not stand at my grave and cry,
I am not there; I did not die.

As long as you are remembered you will always be with us.

Remembering a fallen brother

I met Dimitrios while going through "replacement" in Quang Tri, Vietnam. (He went by the name Jim.) I believe he was a citizen of Greece and it broke my heart when I later heard that he had been killed. It was 52 years ago that I met him, and I have never forgotten him. What a waste of a fine young man.

TO ELENI

Jimmy was the sweetest guy in the world. years ago i stopped in the other restaurant Bill owned which i think is no longer there near Woodhaven Blvd. I gave Bill the stencil i did of Jimmy's spot on the wall. i think it meant a lot because he bought me breakfast. i was going to stop by again over the years but the restaurant is no longer there. the fact that he served without a second thought for his adopted home means a lot. i remember talking to him before he left. i always stop by when in DC. he is not foogotten
