Rocky Armstead
I remember Rocky well. He was in the school class just ahead of me. He was named as one of the most handsome guys in the 1963 annual, when he was a junior. If I had to pick someone as "The Fonze" of school, he would be it. We never out in the same social circle, but he was always nice. Never knew we were both in Nam at the same time. I put his photo in the Viet Nam Memorial in Angel Fire, NM some 25 years ago.

I Remember
I was a 7 year old boy playing outside with GI Joe when the Officers arrived to his home. The Armstead's were our next door neighbor in Monahans, Tx. I didn't understand what was happening then. But I do now. RIP

The Real Rocky
Rocky was the son of my mom's best friend. I was only 4 when he died so I had no idea, but I was told about him from a very young age. My dad was a WWII veteran who always reminded me, "I am not a hero. The one's who never came home are the heroes." Rest in Peace Rocky. I wish I could have met you.
