Once two of many stateside troopers,
young and wild, once Stan & I.
We talk and dreamed of fame and glory...
He went over to fight the fight, and
me, I got out to live the life.
Stanley died, he left a young wife.
And me, now I can only say I'm old and gray and somewhere I lost my way.....
If only Stan could be with his wife today.
Or would he also complain of only being old and gray and regret paths not taken along the way.......
