Final Mission of EN3 Dewey R. Decker
On May 15, 1969, four U.S. Navy Patrol Craft Fast (PCF), also known as Swift Boats, were patrolling the Song Bay Hap River in An Xugen Province, RVN, when they were ambushed by Viet Cong. Two U.S. Navy personnel were killed in the attack and one was wounded. One of the vessels, PCF-51 from Coastal Division 11, was hit by a rocket-propelled grenade launched by the enemy. Crewmen GMG3 Richard W Stindl and EN3 Dewey R. Decker suffered fatal injuries in the assault. [Taken from coffeltdatabase.org and swiftboats.net]
