My Flaming I 3/9 Brother.

I was Albert's Squad Leader with India Co. 2nd Sqd. 2nd Plt. 3rd Bn. 9th Marines. Al was a good Marine. He became part of a close knit squad of Marines very quickly. He never hesitated to carry out his responsibilities and was eager to learn from all the old salts in the squad. He was killed during the "Battle of Getlin's Corner" when our small element of the company (2 squads plus the CP group) were attacked by the NVA. We were badly outnumbered but due to the bravery and sacrifice of Al and 14 of our brothers who also paid the ultimate sacrifice, we were able to hold our little hill. I will remember these men everyday as long as I live for had it not been for them, I would not have survived that terrible day. Semper Fidelis.
