Warriors

First time walking on Guilford Green, and looked up Major Fred Daunton.
He gave his life resupplying troops on the ground under attack.
My son is a Major in the Air Force, a fighter pilot in the F15E Strike Eagle with 160 combat missions against ISIS.
I worry about him, but he loves what he does and knows the risks.
He is a warrior, same as Major Daunton.
A different breed.

Missing You

Tomorrow is Memorial Day. It's been over 52 years since you left us, and I still miss you everyday. Growing up you were my hero. You still are. I will always be proud of you and all you accomplished in your life.

I Remember Fred and Look At His Newton High Football Picture On My Wall Every Day

I played football with Fred when I was a junior and he was a senior at Newton High School. He was an excellent quarterback and a great teammate! The most lasting and vivid memory I have of Fred was in a game at home against Melrose on 4th down with just a few minutes to go and we're losing by six points. Fred called for a kick and everyone on the team objected and appealed to Fred to pass............I said to him "I will protect you." He threw a long pass to our end Morrison who caught it and stumbled into the end zone!! The most amazing pass play I ever witnessed in my life! I was standing right next to Fred when the ball was caught and he said to me "unbelievable."
