Finally

Denny,
I have visited you at The Wall many times over the 55 years since you were taken away. I finally got to this site and found a place where I could talk to you. I well remember we were in high school together, played ball together, double dated and graduated the same day. I never saw you again after that day. We served in Vietnam at the same time. After I came home I found out about your death. While I had other friends that were lost over there, you were the first from the NHHS Class of 62 that I found out about in August 68 when I got home. I was deeply affected. I'm now an old man of 77 but I remember us both as the boys we were. You were the best of the best. I want anyone who reads this to know that. You died leading and protecting your men. Let history judge that damned war. You were a hero. To you memory and spirit, I say "Welcome home, Vietnam vet. Welcome home."
Bill Cammarata, NHHS Class of 62

My Platoon Commander

I remember the first time I met him. I was impressed with his demeanor which was one of self-assurance and total control. I knew right then that I was going to be in good hands. I was the point man on the patrol that fateful day and there isn't a day that does't go by that don't relive the day. He was a great man and didn't deserve to die. I have always wanted to met his wife and family to let them know what a great man he was and that he had the respect of all his men.
