Remembering An American Hero
Dear 1LT Dennis Dee Andrews, sir
As an American, I would like to thank you for your service and for your sacrifice made on behalf of our wonderful country. The youth of today could gain much by learning of heroes such as yourself, men and women whose courage and heart can never be questioned.
May God allow you to read this, and may He allow me to someday shake your hand when I get to Heaven to personally thank you. May he also allow my father to find you and shake your hand now to say thank you; for America, and for those who love you.
With respect, and the best salute a civilian can muster for you, Sir
Curt Carter

For 1LT. Dennis Dee ANDREWS, USMC...another of Pittsburgh's bravest of heroes, who was very brave!!!
He loved us so.
Every day, in a hundred ways, he told us so.
In honesty. in affection, he told us so.
He loved us so.
Every day, in a hundred ways, he showed us so.
With loyalty, and bravery, he showed us so.
He was our defender, and he kept us free!
He took an oath to guard us, and fought for liberty!
He loved us so, and we should know.
For we loved him so.
Lieutenant Andrews, even though you may not be related to Julie Andrews, who is one of my three top favorite songbirds (Along with Jill Corey, Avonmore's and Pittsburgh's own, and Dusty Springfield, who, like Ms. Andrews, was from England, but she passed on some years ago.), you were one of the BRAVEST Marines from Pittsburgh who ever displayed courage under fire and bravery against all odds to defend liberty everywhere. You, Lieutenant, had been there and done that! Well done, Sir! Be thou at peace! SEMPER FI!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

To Put A Face With A Name
Dennis, to honor your memory and the sacrifice you made for our country I want to make sure your photo will be displayed on your birthday when the Education Center is completed, so it is with great pride and humility that I post your 1962 graduation picture from the North Hills High School Yearbook along with a remembrance. You are not forgotten and remain in the hearts of many all these years later. You have been designated to be one of God's special angels, along with the love of my life, who also sacrificed his life during this war. Although we did not know each other, we did grow up in the same city. God Bless You Dennis for being who you were and for all you did--we live in freedom to this day thanks to heroes like you.
