MIA Col. Kelly F. Cook, USAF - - SEA FIXED-WING AIR LOSS

Information about the loss of two F-4C Phantom jet aircraft from the 389th Tactical Fighter Squadron, one of which was piloted by MIA Lt. Col. Kelly Francis Cook, U.S. Air Force, in Southeast Asia (SEA) (over North Vietnam) on 10 November 1967 is available at this link/URL on the Vietnam Air Losses website:

While in MIA status, the U.S. Air Force promoted Lt. Col. Cook to Colonel along with his USAF contemporaries. Lt. Col. Cook's previous assignment was as an instructor at the USAFA. His F-4 WSO/"back seater" on this mission, 1st Lt James Crew (later Maj.), was USAFA 1965. Of the crewmen in the other F-4, Maj. James Morgan & 1st Lt Charles Huneycutt, Maj. Morgan is still MIA. Huneycutt's remains returned by the communists in 1991.

Per Remembrance/article on VVMF website, Kelly Cook was a semester short of graduation from the University of Notre Dame, South Bend, IN, in 1942 when he dropped out to join the U.S. Army Air Force Aviation Cadet program.
