ribbon, Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross Unit Citation
Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross Unit Citation ribbon with affixed gold Palm Leaf Unit Citation device dedicated to U.S. Army First Lieutenant (1LT) and nurse Sharon Ann Lane. The Gallantry Cross Medal and associated ribbon were awarded by the government of the Republic of Vietnam to military personnel who have accomplished deeds of valor or displayed heroic conduct while fighting the enemy and have been cited individually at the regiment, brigade, division, corps, or armed forces level. The artifact was left at The Wall by former U.S. Army Reserve Major (MAJ) Barbara Greenberg on August 3, 1985 as part of a larger assemblage of artifacts (VIVE (30808 & 1509-1512)) which MAJ Greenberg left for 1LT Lane as symbols of the war in which she lost her life. REPUBLIC OF VIETNAM GALLANTRY CROSS UNIT CITATION RIBBON WITH GOLD PALM LEAF UNIT CITATION DEVICE DEDICATED TO U.S. ARMY FIRST LIEUTENANT (1LT) AND NURSE SHARON ANN LANE. THE OBJECT CONSISTS OF A RECTANGULARLY SHAPED, GOLD COLORED FRAME WITH RAISED RELIEF LAUREL LEAF MOTIF ENCLOSING A NYLON RIBBON WITH ALTERNATING OLD GLORY RED AND GOLDEN YELLOW STRIPES, AND WITH A SINGLE GOLD PALM LEAF UNIT CITATION DEVICE AFFIXED TO THE RIBBON FIELD. THE MEDAL WAS AWARDED BY THE REPUBLIC OF VIETNAM TO MILITARY PERSONNEL WHO HAVE ACCOMPLISHED DEEDS OF VALOR OR DISPLAYED HEROIC CONDUCT WHILE FIGHTING THE ENEMY AND HAVE BEEN CITED INDIVIDUALLY AT THE REGIMENT, BRIGADE, DIVISION, CORPS, OR ARMED FORCES LEVEL. THE OBJECT IS AFFIXED TO MILITARY DRESS VIA TWO (2) CLUTCHBACKS AT THE REVERSE OBJECT SURFACE.
