Military issue, U.S. Navy service identification tag, also referred to as a, "dog tag", for Navy veteran "LOWRY / L. R." and which is dedicated to U.S. Navy Lieutenant (LT) and Congressional Medal of Honor (MoH) recipient Father Vincent Robert Capodanno. The artifact was left at The Wall along with a handwritten letter & envelope (VIVE (10260)), a military issue, U.S. Navy rank insignia shoulder board (VIVE (10262)), & a military issue, U.S. Navy Chaplain Corps (Christian) branch insignia (VIVE (10263)) by U.S. Navy veteran Father Larry R. Lowry on November 13, 1986.
MILITARY ISSUE, U.S. NAVY SERVICE IDENTIFICATION TAG, ALSO REFERRED TO AS A, "DOG TAG", DEDICATED TO U.S. NAVY LIEUTENANT (LT) AND CONGRESSIONAL MEDAL OF HONOR (MOH) RECIPIENT FATHER VINCENT ROBERT CAPODANNO. THE OBJECT CONSISTS OF A RECTANGULARLY SHAPED, SILVER COLORED METAL DISK WITH ROUNDED CORNERS, A CRIMPED EDGE, AND ONE (1) HOLE PUNCHED AT THE CENTER OF THE PROPER RIGHT-HAND SIDE OF THE OBVERSE OBJECT SURFACE. MILITARY SERVICE INFORMATION FOR, "LOWRY / L. R." READING, "707681 B / USN M / CATHOLIC" IS STAMPED INTO THE OBVERSE OBJECT SURFACE IN RECESSED BLOCK SCRIPT/ARABIC NUMERALS. ACCORDING TO VIVE CATALOG NOTES PREPARED BY MRCE COLLECTIONS STAFF, THE ARTIFACT WAS PREVIOUSLY FEATURED IN THE MUSEUM OF OUR NATIONAL HERITAGE EXHIBITION (MOONH# 450). THE OBJECT IS ASSOCIATED WITH VIVE (10260, 10262, & 10263).
