ITEMS LEFT AT THE WALL

Vietnam Veterans Memorial (VVM) name rubbing for U.S. Army First Lieutenant (1LT) Jon Walter Layton III. The phrase, "Thank You" is handwritten upon the reverse surface of the name rubbing. The artifact was left at The Wall by an anonymous donor between September - November 2008.

THE OBJECT CONSISTS OF A RUBBED IMPRESSION OF THE VVM WALL HONOREE NAME, "JON W LAYTON" EXECUTED IN GRAPHITE PENCIL AND BLOCK SCRIPT UPON THE UPPER EDGE OF THE OBVERSE OBJECT SURFACE OF A RECTANGULARLY SHAPED SHEET OF WHITE, LINED NOTEBOOK PAPER. ALONG THE LOWER, PROPER RIGHT-HAND CORNER OF THE REVERSE OBJECT SURFACE THE PHRASE, "THANK YOU" IS HANDWRITTEN IN GRAPHITE PENCIL AND VERTICALLY-ORIENTED BLOCK SCRIPT.
