Dear SGT Emerson Paul Cole, sir

As an American, I would like to thank you for your service and for your sacrifice made on behalf of our wonderful country. The youth of today could gain much by learning of heroes such as yourself, men and women whose courage and heart can never be questioned.

May God allow you to read this, and may He allow me to someday shake your hand when I get to Heaven to personally thank you. May he also allow my father to find you and shake your hand now to say thank you; for America, and for those who love you.

Emerson is buried at Maple Grove Cemetery, Findlay,OH. BSM

A Vietnam Veterans Memorial stone has been placed at the Maple Grove Cemetery in Findlay, Ohio to honor local residents who lost their lives in Vietnam. The names of the 23 soldiers are inscribed on one side of the memorial underneath the heading “VIETNAM.” The other side of the stone repeats the “VIETNAM” heading, followed underneath with the words, “THE 10,000 DAY WAR.” It also includes illustrations etched in the stone featuring a soldier struggling in jungle vegetation, others engaged in a firefight, and scenes of aviation, a naval vessel, and a memorial service.
