My Classmate and Friend Always Remembered

I miss you my friend. I will always remember you and our last talk before you left for the Army. To all who might read this, know that John was a good classmate, good friend, good American and a good person. Vietnam took some of our best and John was one.

Remembering An American Hero

Dear PFC John Wayne Colbert, sir

As an American, I would like to thank you for your service and for your sacrifice made on behalf of our wonderful country. The youth of today could gain much by learning of heroes such as yourself, men and women whose courage and heart can never be questioned.

May God allow you to read this, and may He allow me to someday shake your hand when I get to Heaven to personally thank you. May he also allow my father to find you and shake your hand now to say thank you; for America, and for those who love you.

With respect, and the best salute a civilian can muster for you, Sir

Curt Carter

If I could talk to John today, this is what I'd say....

I like to quote my grandpa... 'to speak the name of the dead is to make them live again...my precious son, I shall speak your name for an eternity.'

John...it's your turn. Your story will be heard, your name spoken, and I promise I won't leave out a thing. I'm honored to tell it and elated to know how much your family loves you so. Say hey to Craig...we'll always remember.
