Hi Kenny,
I'm your cousin Shari Lynne Shrum. Now Sharon Kindig.I don't remember you. I remember though, the impact of your death. My mom was your cousin Joy Biehl Shrum. And when your cousin Mark was drafted at 18 in 1972, our mom freaked out. You don't remember a lot of things but your mommy crying is something you remember. Because it's not something you see her do a lot. Mark was 4f and unable to go over because of his knees.
I am so very proud you're my cousin and am proud of your sacrifice and service.
I've been to the wall twice, but, even though my husband had a rubbing done of his cousin, I was unsure when you died. I will be back someday. I'll leave something very much our family so you know I was there. I'm sorry I never got to know you. But I love you, as I do all my family. Rest easy, joke with your cousin Joy and Uncle Dick and Norman. Say hi to your mom and give her a kiss from me.
Your cousin,
Shari Lynne

THANK YOU
Dear PFC Kenneth Coates,
Thank you for your service as an Infantryman. Your 70th birthday just passed. Happy birthday. December is here, along with all the preparations. It is almost Christmas. It is so important for us all to acknowledge the sacrifices of those like you who answered our nation's call. Please watch over America, it stills needs your strength, courage and faithfulness. Rest in peace with the angels.
