Ground Casualty
SP4 Randy L. Clifton was a flight-qualified UH-1 helicopter mechanic serving with C Company, 7th Squadron, 1st Cavalry, 1st Aviation Brigade, U.S. Army Republic of Vietnam. At 5:20 PM on November 28, 1971, Clifton was critically injured at Vinh Long Airfield in Vinh Long Province, RVN, when he reportedly fell from the 2nd story landing of his barracks building. After receiving treatment at Vinh Long, he was transferred to the 3rd Field Hospital in Saigon where he was admitted at 1:15 AM on December 10th with a diagnosis of traumatic cerebral contusions. He expired the following evening. Clifton was 19 years old.
