Today I met a Hero

Today I met Robert not in flesh but granite, I took a rubbing of his name and realized that this man gave his life so that I may live hear in Oregon city right across the river from where he grew up. It fills me with pride to know that people like Robert came from towns just like ours to ensure peace. Rest in peace.

My Brother

You were and remain my hero, my brother. Not a day goes by that I don't think about you. How our lives would have been so different for all of us had you not been killed. I miss you, I love you and I know you watch over me.

Love and hugs, always in my heart. Patti

Remembering An American Hero

Dear PFC Robert Wayne Clarke, sir

As an American, I would like to thank you for your service and for your sacrifice made on behalf of our wonderful country. The youth of today could gain much by learning of heroes such as yourself, men and women whose courage and heart can never be questioned.

May God allow you to read this, and may He allow me to someday shake your hand when I get to Heaven to personally thank you. May he also allow my father to find you and shake your hand now to say thank you; for America, and for those who love you.

With respect, and the best salute a civilian can muster for you, Sir

Curt Carter
