Gone too soon

I moved to Premont at the end of my junior year which would have been Jimmy's senior year, so I didn't really have a chance to know him, however I know that he was extremely well liked by everyone and I know that the community of Premont was shattered at his passing. No telling how much better he would have made our world had he had the opportunity come home. Thank you for your sacrifice, Jimmy.

Thanks

Dear PFC James Clarke,
Thank you for your service as a Rifleman. December has begun, along with all the preparations. It is so important for us all to acknowledge the sacrifices of those like you who answered our nation's call. Please watch over America, it stills needs your strength, courage and faithfulness. Rest in peace with the angels.

My Brother

Jimmy was the middle of three children. I was fortunate to be his little sister. To say I was devastated by his death is an understatement. It was almost 50 years ago, but each day when I think of him, it seems like only yesterday...the classroom I was in, my teacher, my classmates, the view we had of the car stopping in front of the school, and my father and a Marine officer getting out. I knew something was terribly wrong, but at 17 I had no idea I would reflect on that scene for years to come, mourning the loss of his presence in our lives. I loved my brother, I admired him, I wanted to be like him. He was friends with everyone, young and old. I regret my husband, children and grandchildren only know him through pictures and family stories. They do not know of the hole that exists in this world because Jimmy is no longer a part of it. Thank you to everyone who, like me, still remembers him, and appreciates what he did for each of us.
