honoring you...

Thank you for your service to our country so long ago sir. I am heartened you were returned home though I wish it had been under very different circumstances. May you rest in eternal peace.

Thank you Gene for your service.

I just came across my POW bracelet for Gene. My sisters and I all had them and we prayed for the safe return of the people we were given. I recently came across the bracelet I had saved all these years. I'm so glad to find a remembrance for Sgt. Gene Clapper. I would be happy to send the bracelet to a family member.

I Still Remember you are not forgotten

I was very young when I met Gene and his wife Kathy, my father and mother were good friends as USAF members together. Over those long years, our family stayed connected. Back in 1970, I believe, all 4 of us, my family, got the MIA bracelet, in which I still have mine. I remember hearing of the excavation of the plane then the identification of remains and feeling sad and excited for his family all at the same time. In 2008 my father Jim Tawyea passed away and I spoke to Kathy Clapper to inform her. I will always have a special place for that group of men and what they gave up for the USA and what all the families gave up. My love always.

MIA Bracelet

I purchased and wore my MIA bracelet for years. I’d purchased it while in high school. I just came across it and it occurred to me that with today’s technology I might find some info about Gean on-line. My daughter thought it was cool when she was in high school and wore it for a full year. THANK YOU Gean for your service and God bless you and your family. If a family member would like this bracelet I’d happily send it along.
