My brother Bobby

My wonderful husband Kevin of 36 years just brought my attention to this site. I am so grateful to whomever started this site....I do have an idea that it was one of the founding brothers of the ITK fraternity from Oneonta State University. The I T K Founding brothers were and still are an amazing group of men that have kept my brothers memory alive and instill the pure values of honesty and integrity to our young people of Oneonta ,the future of our great country. I am so humbled and grateful for all of you.

While still in college, Bobby wrote a letter to my Mom stating that he felt that President Johnson needed him so he felt compelled to drop out of college in his sophomore year and enlist in the Marines and request to be placed in Vietnam. The year was 1967. My brother was killed on April 16, 1968 just one month short of his 20th birthday.

I was only 9 and my memory of him was just being awsome ! Just a big guy that was kind to his family. My oldest brother brother also awesome, Victor ,and Bobby were soul mates and sadly , through a number of difficult life challenges stemming from Bobby’s death, my dear brother Victor took his life. I do believe that I lost 2 brothers to the Vietnam war.

As we approach the holiday season I am once again reminded of the family that I have lost and miss what could have been. I lost my brothers but my parents lost their sons, a loss I hope never to experience as I am blessed with 4 of my own.

I am proud of both my brothers , they loved our great country, they are in my heart forever.

Jeffrey Vogel we need to find each other. I am not sure who wrote in 2011 and signed my moms name, but she had long been gone.

God Bless America . Merry Christmas 2018

Hero

I was in the 1st class to join the college fraternity that Bob (Chico) co-founded. He was already in the Marines. We met through the mail. He was a legend and hero to us new guys. 50 years later he remains one the binding elements that still keeps us all friends. His story was just shared on the PBS Memorial Day concert show. We will never forget.

Friend & Founder

I met Bob (Chico) at Oneonta State in 1966. He was one of the three founding fathers of the Iota Tau Kappa fraternity which formed with 32 charter members in 1967 and still exists today. Chico became a dear friend to many of us. His loss in service to our country prompted some of his fraternity brothers to set a goal to establish a scholarship endowment (which also honors Marine Kevin Coulman killed in the Beirut bombing) at Oneonta State to support the children of veterans. In this way, we honor Chico's sacrifice and remember a loyal and faithful friend. We miss you Chico.

A really good guy

I served with Bob during the Siege of Khe Sanh. We had much in common both 20, both 2 years of college. He loved fruit cake and I pound cake. We swapped often. He was a really nice guy. Said he wanted to become a teacher. I was in the hospital at Cam Ranh Bay when he was killed in the ambush of our company on April 16. I will never forget him. Semper Fi Bobby.
