Remembering An American Hero
Dear CPL Wayne Ceciel Chitwood, sir
As an American, I would like to thank you for your service and for your sacrifice made on behalf of our wonderful country. The youth of today could gain much by learning of heroes such as yourself, men and women whose courage and heart can never be questioned.
May God allow you to read this, and may He allow me to someday shake your hand when I get to Heaven to personally thank you. May he also allow my father to find you and shake your hand now to say thank you; for America, and for those who love you.
With respect, Sir
Curt Carter

Honorin Memory of Wayne Chitwood
Just a note to say that I served with Wayne with Kilo Company, 3rd Battalion 3rd Regiment 3rd Marines. Although I had been in Vietnam since July 1967, I knew Wayne for only a few weeks. I was there with him at OP Gold just outside of Alpha 3 base, when he was hit. Weapons platoon was saddened when he passed. He was a short timer and would have gone home in just weeks. I visited my old comrade Rick Stoffel near Eau Claire. We had an opportunity to see a Vietnam memorial not far away. We looked and found Wayne's name. Many decades have passed since that day. But, Wayne has not been, nor will he ever be forgotten. Semper FI, buddy....... D. Arocha Sunnyvale CA
