Dear Capt. Vandiver Childs, Sir,

We will never be able to thank you enough for your courageous, unselfish sacrifice to our country. You were taken from your family much too early. We will never forget your service and your sacrifice.

I met you the day you got your wings, Enid, Ok, I believe. Your wife pinned your wings on and no one from your family was there for the event, so I snapped a couple of shots of your wife pinning your wings on. My brother was Capt. Harry Swanson who had gone through training with you. He thought the world of you. You'll see him again, at some time, in "the wild blue yonder." God bless and keep you.

Thank you for your service as a Tactical Aircraft Pilot (Various.) Thanksgiving is coming. This is the month that we remember all those who have passed-on. We remember you. It is so important for us all to acknowledge the sacrifices of those like you who answered our nation's call. Please watch over America, it stills needs your strength, courage and faithfulness.
