NF Cousin

Our family lived in Niagara Falls and my dad, Germano (James) was a direct cousin to your dad. I have visited the wall in DC many times, my son Jason went to school in DC and now lives in London. I have a rubbing of your name and have had it for many years. It was something that I was so proud to have and yet so sad to have in my possession.
I don't think I ever had met you but recall the terrible news of your loss. You have always been an inspiration to me and my family. I have talked about you and have pride in how you had given your life for your country.
Sleep in peace.

Still have the stuffed tiger you gave me.

Auggie. I have thought of you so often. Even though I was very young when you were taken from us I still have a vague memory of you. I remember you dangling your dog tags above me when I lived on Payne Ave in NT. I am sorry but that is all I can remember. I have been in The Army for many years myself. When I was stationed at Fort Meade, MD it took me three tries to get to The Wall to get a rubbing. I could see it but could not go further the first two times. A couple of times I was TDY in NY at Niagara Falls Air Force Base and went to visit you. I made sure the grass was trimmed and brought a fresh flag. Dad, Helen and I visited you so many times when we lived in the Buffalo area. I had a few pictures of you with Frank Martinez. I finally tracked him down last year and we spoke on the phone for a while. It was comforting to me. You are in heaven still a Sky Soldier with Dad, your Mom and Helen who loved you so very much too. Until we meet again, Brothers in Arms. James

NEVER FORGET

While I'm still here, age 69 now, your old friend from 219 Robinson just wanted to wish you a Happy Upcoming Birthday. We had Fun at The Boys Club. You wouldn't believe what they have done with it now.. Its called the Renaissance Club.. Italian guys, Italian Foods. Some of our old friends are there still. I always remember the first slices of Salami we ate in your place in the up stairs apt.. we open that old fridge and I ate my very first piece. I married your ascension school classmate, Kathleen Kantor. Were she alive I know she would we would both be writing hello to you as well. Well junior, rest assured you are not forgotten. Remembering An American Hero

Dear SP4 August Chiasera Jr, sir

As an American, I would like to thank you for your service and for your sacrifice made on behalf of our wonderful country. The youth of today could gain much by learning of heroes such as yourself, men and women whose courage and heart can never be questioned.

May God allow you to read this, and may He allow me to someday shake your hand when I get to Heaven to personally thank you. May he also allow my father to find you and shake your hand now to say thank you; for America, and for those who love you.

With respect, and the best salute a civilian can muster for you, Sir

Curt Carter

I Remember

Jr, I was a friend of yours back in 1966 and just before you went in the Army. The strangest thing just happened to me. I was looking something up on the web and your name popped up.
I definitely got goose bumps and felt I had to write something. I still remember our nights at Fabin's, playing euchre and drinking slow gin & squirt(even though I was under age) I remember when you came back from boot camp and we were together and you had a feeling that you were not coming back. I wish I would have been older and understood back then the sacrifices that so many of you guys made. I just wanted you to know that I still remember.
Love Janet
