REMEMBRANCES

LEFT FOR CHAMBLESS M CHESNUTT
POSTED ON 4.16.2007

If I should die...remembrances for MAJ. Chambless M. CHESNUTT, USAF...who made the ultimate sacrifice

If I should die, and leave you here awhile, be not like others, osre undone, who keep long vigils by the silent dust, and weep...for MY sake, turnagain to life, and smile...Nerving thy heart, and trembling hand to do something to comfort other hearts than thine...Complete these dear, unfinished tasks of mine...and I, perchance, may therein comfort you.

Do not stand at my grave and weep

Do not stand at my grave and weep.
I am not there; I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow,
I am the diamond glints on snow,
I am the sun on ripened grain,
I am the gentle autumn rain.
When you awaken in the morning's hush
I am the swift uplifting rush
Of quiet birds in circled flight.
I am the soft stars that shine at night.
Do not stand at my grave and cry,
I am not there; I did not die.

My Bracelet

I wore a bracelet with this name in the 1970s. I wondered who this man really was. I Hope his family knows that even though I did not know him he has been in my thoughts all of these years.

NATIVE AMERICAN PRAYER

It is said a man hasn't died as long as he is remembered. This prayer is a way for families, friends and fellow veterans to remember our fallen brothers and sisters. Do not stand at my grave and weep I am not there, I do not sleep. I am a thousand winds that blow, I am the diamond glints on snow. I am the sunlight on ripened grain, I am the gentle autumn rain. When you awaken in the morning hush, I am the swift, uplifting rush of quiet birds in circled flight, I am the stars that shine at night. Do not stand at my grave and cry, I am not there, I did not die.
