Uncle Chickie
I never got to know “Uncle Chickie” being born after his passing. The stories I heard from my father and grandparents told me all I needed to know. He didn’t run from the draft he answered the call when many wouldn’t. I got to know his parents very well and spent many a summers day at their pool dedicated to Chickie.

do not stand at my grave and weep
Do not stand at my grave and weep
I am not there; I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow,
I am the diamond glints on snow,
I am the sun on ripened grain,
I am the gentle autumn rain.
When you awaken in the morning's hush
I am the swift uplifting rush
Of quiet birds in circled flight.
I am the soft stars that shine at night.
Do not stand at my grave and cry,
I am not there; I did not die.
As long as you are remembered you will never truly die.
I am not there; I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow,
I am the diamond glints on snow,
I am the sun on ripened grain,
I am the gentle autumn rain.

Fellow Troper
Served with Frank till I was wounded and MediVaced out 28 Feb 69..Frank was a gentle soul and did what was asked. His father passed away earlier, during his tour, was given a short leave to attend the funeral back home...who would think a short few months later his family would have to grieve for Frank. Tragic, but such was the times we lived through...making us who survived a bit stronger and thankful for all the Lord gives...Joe Dodson knew him better..Joe, if you see this post, love to hear back..Rich
