Remembering An American Hero
Dear PFC Pruitt Henry Cheaney, sir
As an American, I would like to thank you for your service and for your sacrifice made on behalf of our wonderful country. The youth of today could gain much by learning of heroes such as yourself, men and women whose courage and heart can never be questioned.
May God allow you to read this, and may He allow me to someday shake your hand when I get to Heaven to personally thank you. May he also allow my father to find you and shake your hand now to say thank you; for America, and for those who love you.
With respect, and the best salute a civilian can muster for you, Sir
Curt Carter

My cousin, Pruitt Cheaney
My most vivid memories of Pruitt are of him as a spirited 12/13 year old lad growing up on the family farm in Missouri with his Mother, Dad and two brothers. I visited them there for a few weeks in the summer of 1960. In July, 1966 Pruitt's Mom and Dad were visiting me and my family on Cape Cod, MA when they received the tragic news of his death.
My daughter, Holly, visited the Vietnam Wall Memorial in Washington, D. C. several years ago and made a rubbing of Pruitt's name.
Pruitt was an outgoing, lively, animated, intelligent young man who gave 'ALL' for his country. A huge loss to his family!
