Remembering An American Hero
Dear Captain Stephen John Chaney, sir
As an American, I would like to thank you for your service and for your sacrifice made on behalf of our wonderful country. The youth of today could gain much by learning of heroes such as yourself, men and women whose courage and heart can never be questioned.
May God allow you to read this, and may He allow me to someday shake your hand when I get to Heaven to personally thank you. May he also allow my father to find you and shake your hand now to say thank you; for America, and for those who love you.
With respect, Sir
Curt Carter

One Stephen Chaney met another Stephen Chaney
During my senior year at Findlay (Ohio) High School, I met Steve just after our home football game. Prior to our game I had noticed his name on the game player sheet. We laughed at the probability of two people with the same names, except middle initials, mine was K, his was J, meeting at a football game. I don't recall much about him, but am glad that we met. As a vet myself, I shall always remember him, especially when I saw his name on the wall. I was shocked and wept at his memory.
