I was there
I was there that night when the mortar rounds came in most of them fell in the center of the FOB where you where. We where awake all night waiting for them to attack but it never happened. We had two KIAs that night you and a chemical specialist, not sure how many wounded. You where one of the best company commanders that I ever had. I will always remember you. I was in Missouri last week and stopped at your grave to pay my respects and say a prayer.
YOU ARE NOT FORGOTTEN
Till we meet again in our Heavenly home

Remembering An American Hero
Dear Captain Charles William Chandler, sir
As an American, I would like to thank you for your service and for your sacrifice made on behalf of our wonderful country. The youth of today could gain much by learning of heroes such as yourself, men and women whose courage and heart can never be questioned.
May God allow you to read this, and may He allow me to someday shake your hand when I get to Heaven to personally thank you. May he also allow my father to find you and shake your hand now to say thank you; for America, and for those who love you.
With respect, Sir
Curt Carter

My beloved brother
Charlie I have left remembrances two times before. I cant find them so I leave another, and I will leave another if I must after that. You were my world growing up. I looked up to you and loved you with all of my heart. My big brother, my hero. I miss you more than words can ever express. I give my love, but you , as well as many many others, gave everything you could. As I read some these postings, I feel pride and a sense of peace, from the words of others. You would be extremely proud of Craig. He is a wonderful strong, caring and tender individual. He has a wonderful family that I am sure you are watching over.
My love forever, I will never for get you Chick. Your place in my heart cannot be filled by anyone else.

If I should die...remembrances for CAPT. Charles William CHANDLER, USA...who died for our country!!!
If I should die, and leave you here awhile, be not like others, sore undone, who keep long vigils by the silent dust, and weep...for MY sake, turn again to life, and smile...Nerving thy heart, and trembling hand to do something to comfort other hearts than thine...Complete these dear, unfinished tasks of mine...and I, perchance, may therein comfort you.
