Do not stand at my grave and weep
Do not stand at my grave and weep.
I am not there; I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow,
I am the diamond glints on snow,
I am the sun on ripened grain,
I am the gentle autumn rain.
When you awaken in the morning's hush
I am the swift uplifting rush
Of quiet birds in circled flight.
I am the soft stars that shine at night.
Do not stand at my grave and cry,
I am not there; I did not die.
Mary Frye – 1932

I still wear his bracelet
I purchased a POW/MIA bracelet that has his name on it in 2001 while I was a Cadet at the US Air Force Academy. I wear it everyday. I don't know if he has any family that is still around who might want the bracelet or if there was any new information about Capt. Altus.

Best Friend
Bobby was my pilot in F-4 training at Davis-Monthan AFB in Tuscon, AZ. I was his back seater. We were the best of friends, as close to being brothers as you could get. I was stationed at Ubon and he was at Danang. We partied together at Ubon about week before he went down. When I heard that he was MIA, I searched for the wreckage the following day, but 200-300 ft jungle canopy prevented any positive results. I still think about him almost every day.

Not Forgotten
I have not forgotten you. I chair the Adoption Committee for The National League of Families of Prisoners of War and Missing in Action in Southeast Asia. We will always remember the 1,889 Americans still unaccounted for in Southeast Asia and the thousands of others that lost their lives. We will not stop our efforts until all of you are home where you belong.
We need to reach the next generation so that they will carry on when our generation is no longer able. To do so, we are attempting to locate photographs of all the missing. If you are reading this remembrance and have a photo and/or memory of this missing American that you would like to share for our project, please contact me at:

VIET NAM BRACELET
DURING THE VIET NAM WAR, YOU COULD SEND AWAY FOR BRACELETS WITH SOLDIERS
NAMES ON THEM AND I RECIEVED ONE WITH CAPT. ROBERT ALTUS' NAME ON IT.
I KEPT IN TOUCH WITH HIS FAMILY FOR A FEW YEARS, AND I EVENTUALLY, LOST
TRACK OF THEM, AND I LOST MY BRACELET TOO, BUT I NEVER FORGOT THEM.
