A great leader

1st Lt. Frederick Casper was my platoon leader in Vietnam. He was a great leader and loved his men. I heard he was killed after I left in March of 68. I think about him often.

We Will Remember

They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old:
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning,
We will remember them.

Went to classes with him

Fred, I visited you last year at the war memorial last year as an honor to your bravery and leadership. I finished OCS at Benning 12/67 and was also in the 2/47 9th Infantry. I was a LRRP. Not in Dong Tam often but Gia Dihn a number of times. Wish I could have saved you but you know how it was. Rest In Peace Hero

Remembering An American Hero

Dear 1LT Frederick Raymond Casper, sir

As an American, I would like to thank you for your service and for your sacrifice made on behalf of our wonderful country. The youth of today could gain much by learning of heroes such as yourself, men and women whose courage and heart can never be questioned.

May God allow you to read this, and may He allow me to someday shake your hand when I get to Heaven to personally thank you. May he also allow my father to find you and shake your hand now to say thank you; for America, and for those who love you.

With respect, Sir

Curt Carter
