Friends Forever
June 6, 1966, we graduated high school together. We became friends in our senior year. We double-dated to the celebrations that followed the ceremony. You joined the Army the following January. I didn't hear from you again, till out of the blue you called the night before you left for Vietnam. We talked for hours and vowed that we would go on a real date when you came home. I attended your funeral. I've thought of you so many times over the years; the sheepish grinning boy who liked to match his socks to the color of his oxford shirt. You will never be forgotten.
