honoring you...

Thank you for your service to our country so long ago sir. The remembrance from your niece Sheila is especially poignant and reflects the anguish experienced by so many who lost loved ones in this war. May you rest in eternal peace.

Honor to them who did their duties

Dear third cousin,
I never met you, I was only eleven months old baby when you died in Vietnam. As a mather of fact I did not know that you were my third cousin until last Christmas. There was an article in the local newspaper Lapuan Sanomat on thursday 22nd 2016. In the over half page article your seventh cousin told about your fatality 50 years ago and about your parents and relatives.

In 1970´s when visiting my father cousins home I heard about your fatality and I saw your picture on the wall. Then and until last year I thought that you were their fathers relative but not my. We have common ancestors Heikki Malakiasson and Liisa Mattidaughter Wälimäki as our great-great-grandparents. In 1860´s they moved to the Wälimäki croft, later farm in Lapua, Finland. I was living my childhood in the same area.

When visiting Washington DC in the beginning of November 2017 I paid a visit the Vietnam Veterans Memorial and located your name on the wall. The moment caused the thrilling emotion and some shivers went through my body. I have understood that you were a responsible soldier taking care of your team. Honor to them who did their duties.
Your third cousin, Nokia Finland

THANKS

Dear SSgt William Carson,
Thank you for your service as an Infantryman. I hate that you passed on Christmas, sigh. Yesterday we celebrated Columbus Day, and we remember those of you who served. It is important for us all to acknowledge the sacrifices of those like you who answered our nation's call. Please watch over America, it stills needs your strength, courage and faithfulness. Rest in peace with the angels.

Remembering An American Hero

Dear SSGT William D Carson, sir

As an American, I would like to thank you for your service and for your sacrifice made on behalf of our wonderful country. The youth of today could gain much by learning of heroes such as yourself, men and women whose courage and heart can never be questioned.

May God allow you to read this, and may He allow me to someday shake your hand when I get to Heaven to personally thank you. May he also allow my father to find you and shake your hand now to say thank you; for America, and for those who love you.

With respect, and the best salute a civilian can muster for you, Sir

Curt Carter
