Remembering my Father's Best Friend

My Father, Bill Murtha was best friends w Tim. My father passed away 6 years ago. My parents were introduced by him as they were leaving a high school party. My mom passed away 2 years ago. My oldest son who is 32 was named Timothy Michael. Little did I know in 1992 that was the name of my Father's friend who died in Vietnam. RIP Timothy Michael Carroll. Lost but not forgotten. So glad you are reunited together.

Polei Kleng Camp (LZ Bass) was a U.S. Army 4th Infantry firebase located fourteen miles northwest of Kontum in Kontum Province in the Central Highlands of South Vietnam. For a week in March 1969, the North Vietnamese Army launched 122mm rockets at the base nearly every day around noon when the troopers were lining up for chow. On March 9th, one of the projectiles made a direct hit on the mess hall, killing two men. PFC Bobby J. Rollins and PFC Timothy M.
