Remembering
I remember the day I heard you had been killed. I was with friends at the bowling alley on Main Street in New Rochelle. We were devastated. I did not know then that one year later I would be drafted and sent to Vietnam. I carried your memory, and still do.

Dear Sp4 Frederick Carraturo,
Thank you for your service as an Infantryman. It is important for us all to acknowledge the sacrifices of those like you who answered our nation's call. Please watch over America, it stills needs your strength, courage and faithfulness. Rest in peace with the angels.

I remember
Today I attended a Memorial Day service in honor of your memory.
I remember the day I came home from schoool and their were army jeeps parked outside our home
I remember holding your hand and walking to the corner store. You were so tall and took large steps and I had to run to keep up
I remember your high school graduation and I thought you were so cool the Beatles were playing on the radio
I remember your girlfriend Rochelle. I thought she was so beautiful
I remember you driving a postal truck
I remember how my mother, my aunt and my grandmother cried and cried for weeks and the doctor having to come to the house
I remember I wore your army shirt with your name on it thru my whole middle school years
I remember my daughter gathering all your stuff, a care giver of your memory
I remember your brand new GTO. Your father cherished it for years
All I have are these memories and countless stories told by your mother and father and your sisters. Thank you for the memories uncle Freddy. I will never forget....until we meet again... I'll bring the music

Remembering An American Hero
Dear SP4 Frederick James Carraturo, sir
As an American, I would like to thank you for your service and for your sacrifice made on behalf of our wonderful country. The youth of today could gain much by learning of heroes such as yourself, men and women whose courage and heart can never be questioned.
May God allow you to read this, and may He allow me to someday shake your hand when I get to Heaven to personally thank you. May he also allow my father to find you and shake your hand now to say thank you; for America, and for those who love you.
With respect, Sir
Curt Carter
