Ground Casualty

CM3 Roger N. Carpenter was a Construction Mechanic serving with Naval Mobile Construction Battalion Three (NMCB-3), 3rd Naval Construction Brigade, U.S. Naval Forces, Vietnam. On April 18, 1971, CM3 Carpenter was at the Detail Aquarius work site near Chau Doc in Chau Doc Province, RVN, lashing material for transport to a AMMI pontoon barge when he reportedly fell into a swift current and was drowned.
