Family Legacy

Dear Rudy,
I never got to meet you but your brother Wendy Carnley is my grandpa and he talks about you all the time. He recently gave me the pen he used to write you letters with and I know how special that was to him. I joined the Army in 2010 and I live in DC now and got to see your name on the Vietnam Veterans Memorial wall. It’s an honor being related to you and learning about all of the history. I made an Army family legacy video with you and it’s important to know the history so you’re not forgotten. You can search my name and Army family legacy on YouTube to watch the video.

Love your niece,
US Army Staff Sgt. Sarah D Sangster

Remembering An American Hero

Dear SP4 Rudy Avon Carnley, sir

As an American, I would like to thank you for your service and for your sacrifice made on behalf of our wonderful country. The youth of today could gain much by learning of heroes such as yourself, men and women whose courage and heart can never be questioned.

May God allow you to read this, and may He allow me to someday shake your hand when I get to Heaven to personally thank you. May he also allow my father to find you and shake your hand now to say thank you; for America, and for those who love you.

With respect, Sir

Curt Carter
