MEMORIAL DAY

The years have passed since Jesse and I served together at Fort Knox. We said goodbye on November 5, 1967, and Jesse went to Infantry school while I went to Army helicopter school. We will again honor Jesse on Memorial Day along with many others I knew.

There is a picture of Jesse peeling potatoes with us at Fort Knox on this site. Jesse is pictured, far right, in the photograph appearing to eat a potatoe. The picture was taken in the fall of 1967. I served in Vietnam from 5/68 to 5/69.

I talked to Jesse's brother before his recent passing. The family was devastated by Jesse's loss. R.I.P, JMJ

Remembering An American Hero

Dear CPL Jesse Carmona Jr, sir

As an American, I would like to thank you for your service and for your sacrifice made on behalf of our wonderful country. The youth of today could gain much by learning of heroes such as yourself, men and women whose courage and heart can never be questioned.

May God allow you to read this, and may He allow me to someday shake your hand when I get to Heaven to personally thank you. May he also allow my father to find you and shake your hand now to say thank you; for America, and for those who love you.

With respect, Sir

Curt Carter
