No words, Just Example
Your life was short, but I remember you. Not because you brought attention to yourself. I remember. You sent your Mom a letter and talked about the beauty of Vietnam and your friends there. So she wouldn’t worry, I suspect. You went to Vietnam because you insisted on coming home for your father’s funeral, when you could have stayed in a safe place, not been sent to Vietnam and probably come home— seeing no battles.
No. You were a man that honored your parents, your family, your town and your country. There is not a one of us that you didn’t influence.
Without speaking a word, you were one of our most influential teachers.
You gave all you had and asked for nothing in return. You spoke softly and kindly. You Never sought the limelight. But you died fighting in one of the most horrendous battles of any war. You lived and died with honor and courage. You changed the world. For the better. You changed us. Your name will always be in the limelight.
We shall never forget.
Thank you PFC Danny Carlton.
