THANK YOU
Dear Pvt John Carlock,
Thank you for your service as an Airborne Qualified Infantryman. It is the last day of September, and time continues to quickly pass. It is important for us all to acknowledge the sacrifices of those like you who answered our nation's call. Please watch over America, it stills needs your courage and faithfulness. Rest in peace with the angels.

On January 5, 1968, both soldiers were fatally injured by metal fragments they received while moving field gear when a friendly grenade accidently detonated. Both were admitted to the 24th Evacuation Hospital in Long Binh, South Vietnam, were they succumbed to their injuries. [Taken from coffeltdatabase.org]

John Carlock remembered by his fellow soldiers
The military picture of John Carlock came from the book MY GIFT TO YOU, which includes the stories and pictures of American soldiers who died in Vietnam while serving with the 3rd Battalion, 506th Infantry (the Currahees), 101st Airborne Division. The pictures were allowed for use for the Faces Never Forgotten project by the author and fellow Currahee soldier Jerald "Jerry" Berry.
