Ground Casualty

SP5 Larry I. Briggs was a medical noncommissioned officer and PVT John R. Carlock an infantryman, both serving with 3rd Battalion, 506th Infantry. On January 5, 1968, both soldiers were fatally injured by metal fragments they received while moving field gear when a friendly grenade accidently detonated. John Carlock remembered by his fellow soldiers

The military picture of John Carlock came from the book MY GIFT TO YOU, which includes the stories and pictures of American soldiers who died in Vietnam while serving with the 3rd Battalion, 506th Infantry (the Currahees), 101st Airborne Division. The pictures were allowed for use for the Faces Never Forgotten project by the author and fellow Currahee soldier Jerald "Jerry" Berry.
