Rest in peace

Rest in peace, Leonard. I wish I got to meet you. I have visited your grave as a child and I think of you often. I am proud to have served as much as I did on behalf of our family’s name.

honoring you...

Thank you for your service to our country so long ago sir. The remembrance from fellow marine Dave Dorhrman is touching and reflects his respect and admiration for you. As long as you are remembered you will always be with us....

The Runner

Reading Leonard's Smile II reminded me of Leonard in High School. He lived about half way up Spring Canyon, and I lived on the other side of Tombstone Canyon on the hill at about the same level. I would get up in the morning and catch the bus to High School, and Leonard would run over the hill down the other side, and on to the High School. He worked out for the cross country team, and I was talking to him one day after school about his workout routine. He had a belt which was attached to a large mat that was made out of sections of tires. It was about 6 X 9 feet, and he would run around the track with that dragging behind him to build up his stamina. There was no one who could out run Leonard!

It is important for us all to acknowledge the sacrifices of those like you who answered our nation's call. Please watch over America, it stills needs your courage and faithfulness.
